The College has greatly appreciated the very high level of educational leadership provided by Ray. His breadth of experience, understanding of educational pedagogy and practice, and wisdom have been highly valued. Ray has worked alongside the teaching staff to assist them in the development of their teaching skills and professional development portfolios.

Ray has also worked with Heads of Department to develop their skills to improve their management of staff for whom they are responsible. Ray has spent many years developing his Avenues Programs: Avenues to School Principal’s Leadership Excellence, Avenues to Executive Leadership Excellence and Avenues to Teaching Excellence.  Ray has used these programs extensively to develop the skills of our teaching staff, as evidenced by improved teaching and leadership performance.  Ray has assisted staff in recognising areas that require improvement and provided improvement strategies within a supportive learning environment.

Ray has balanced the professional coaching component of this role with the many varied administration responsibilities such as developing course booklets, facilitating parent teacher evenings, encouraging curriculum initiatives, developing curriculum policies and practice, in particular cyber bullying policies and numerous other tasks associated with the role of Head of Teaching and Learning.
